WHAT TO EXPECT

HOW TO GET STARTED

The referral process can be daunting. There are many considerations such as what kind of insurance your child has, where you live in the state, and what level of care you are seeking.

While parents can self-refer for basic outpatient counseling, higher levels of care, like residential, require a referral from a treating mental health clinician with supporting clinical documentation. This can be difficult to hear if your child is in crisis and has never had mental health services.

This is why reaching out to our Access Department is often the first step for many families. On an initial call we’ll briefly review the behaviors that led to your query, what services you’re currently receiving, and/or what may or may not be available in your local area, either from Trillium or other providers.

Accessing care is, indeed, a process. We endeavor to be transparent and give you useful information as your family makes important decisions.

TREATMENT MODEL

Care is based on a personalized treatment plan that is reviewed regularly by the child’s treatment team. The plan of care may include a weekly schedule that includes individual therapy, family therapy, and medication support if needed.

Each child also has a safety plan to help them manage difficult moments and stay safe. Therapists check in often and adjust treatment based on feedback.

The child’s therapist is the main contact for families and helps coordinate communication with all members of the care team.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

Families are encouraged to take part in therapy, treatment meetings, and care planning. The team—including the child, family, therapist, and psychiatrist—works together to support progress toward goals.

All visitors to the residential campuses must complete a Contact Permission Form, receive approval prior to their visit, and sign in at the reception desk upon arrival.

TRANSITIONS & AFTERCARE

Our support goes beyond treatment. We are committed to helping youth successfully move from treatment back into their homes, schools, and communities. We work closely with youth, families, schools, and community partners to make sure supports are in place for academic, emotional, and behavioral needs during this transition.

Our services may include helping create transition plans together, supporting students as they return to school, and coordinating communication between treatment teams and community providers. We also help arrange needed supports across different settings and identify both formal and informal resources that build strong relationships and a sense of belonging.

Our goal is to help each youth build a strong foundation for success. We use a team-based approach that focuses on meaningful connections, community involvement, and access to ongoing support. By building a network of care that offers structure, guidance, and encouragement, we help youth and families move forward with confidence, resilience, and stability.
