Trillium Family Services Yoga Group Highlighted in Blog

Volunteer yoga instructor, Kaitlin Parker
In a blog detailing their exciting 100 day tour of 100 west coast yoga studios, the YoYoYogis (Alex and Terri Cole)
write about their visit to Trillium Family Services' own yoga group at the Parry Center for Children.
Led by one immensely dedicated volunteer yoga instructor, Kaitlin Parker, each Friday a group of young
people from Trillium's residential treatment program at the Parry Center join together in the campus gymnasium
to practice yoga. As the YoYoYogis say, kids come to "calm their mind, stretch their bodies and replenish their spirit,"
with a healthy dose of fun at the same time.

At Trillium's Children's Farm Home campus, kids are also encouraged to join a weekly yoga group led by one of our
Child and Adolescent Treatment Specialists. Andre Alyeska spends his Fridays leading three yoga classes, including an
afternoon session in Powers and Cummings for the children who are unable to be safe outside of the cottage. Andre will soon
be leading the Children's Farm Home Sunday happenings including Yoga and Arts, and Improv.
The postures, breathing techniques, and meditation that come with a regular yoga practice compliment Trillium's use of
therapeutic evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), helping children with self-awareness
and recognizing patterns of reactions.
