Trillium Family Services employs some of the most skilled and experienced doctors
and clinicians in the State of Oregon. Our distinguished staff has experience working
and teaching at Oregon Health and Science University and other top medical schools across
the country. In fact, many staff members conduct research and publish out of OHSU while working
simultaneously at Trillium.
Dr. Keith Cheng,
Medical Director
Trillium Family Services is widely respected for its extensive adoption of the industry's
best practices and evidence based treatments including Collaborative Problem Solving,
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Aggression Replacement Therapy,
Motivational Interviewing, Chrysalis, the Boystown Foster Care Model, and other highly effective
methods. These successful strategies have translated into even more positive outcomes for
children receiving treatment at our campuses. Many of our doctors have studied directly under
the people who developed and pioneered these practices. Integral to our successful implementation of these
cutting-edge techniques is the expertise of the Trillium's highly trained staff of clinicians.
Our organization
employs an impressive team of Board certified psychiatrists and therapists with specialties
ranging from treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders to implementation of evidence-based treatments
such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Trillium's reputation for high quality treatment and diagnosis
of mental health issues has led to its having been chosen as a preferred site for nursing rotations,
practicum, and internships for academic programs at Willamette University, Oregon State University,
and New Lebanon Hospital among other esteemed institutions.
Keith Cheng, head clinician at Trillium, wrote the first book specifically addressing child psychotherapy
and has been awarded the title of Child Psychiatrist of the Year by the Oregon Council of Child and Adolescent
Psychiatry.
In addition to the highest level of expertise, Trillium also has unmatched experience in treating mental illness.
After changes in Oregon's mental health policy, the State referred all of its most severe cases to Trillium, giving
Trillium the opportunity to distinguish itself as the most competent and recognized provider of children's mental
health services in Oregon.
At Trillium we believe in providing the best care possible for your child and we strive to consistently
improve our practices in two ways: Research and Evaluation.
Research:
Trillium is constantly looking for new and effective ways of treating your child. Research enables us to do
this by finding interventions that have been shown to be effective in
treating mental illnesses. This research is entirely academic research and does not involve
using patients as research subjects.
Evaluation:
Evaluation through discharge outcome studies allows Trillium to ensure that our programs are working
effectively. Through evaluation, we can ensure that our clinicians are properly following the treatment models found
in evidence-based practices. The outcomes of these programs are also evaluated to ensure that the
program is producing the desired outcome. If evaluation shows that programs are not following
the model or that the desired outcomes are not being achieved, then Trillium takes steps to correct
the program.
